抄録

The development of small-scale rotary engines fueled by liquid hydrocarbons was discussed. Power microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) have the capability to produce portable power generation systems with an order of magnitude higher energy density than common batteries. A test bench for the engine was developed and experiments conducted with gaseous-fueled mini-rotary engines to examine the effects of sealing, ignition, design and thermal management on efficiency. Testing of the mini-engine led to the conclusion that there are no fundamental phenomenon that may prevent the operation of micro-engines.
