Summary of error and implications: In the original article, the δ25Mg and δ26Mg values are listed relative to an anorthite standard for which a δ25Mg value of +1.77‰ was assumed. The true value of this standard is −1.77‰. In the table and figure associated with this corrigendum, this mistake has been fixed. Addressing this mistake has shifted the magnesium isotopic dataset as a whole towards more negative δ25Mg values (see Fig. 4 and Table 3. This mistake does not change the conclusions of the article, as no significance was placed on absolute δ25Mg and δ26Mg values due to the mismatch in sample and standard chemistry and the possible associated matrix effect.
