Batch experiments were carried out to investigate the denitrification capacity of fermentation liquid of food-waste by comparison with sodium acetate and glucose. Rates of NOx--N reduction were compared under different COD/N ratios. It was found that, as electron donor, food-waste could meet the demand of dinitrification when the COD/N was 6.5, with PD = 0.146 g NOx--N /g COD.Kinetic equations were used to simulate each phase of dinitrification under COD/N=5.0, results showed that NUR achieved to 7.44 mg NOx--N/(g VSS·h) at the Ss metabolic phase for food-waste. And specific denitrification rate of food-waste was 0.77 times of sodium acetate and 2.1 times of glucose. So food-waste can be classified into readily organic substances.
