Comparative study of liquefaction and post-liquefaction properties of original and reconstituted soil of a hydraulic fill sampled from a specific reclaimed site

Hydraulic fills are composed mainly of loose saturated sandy soils, which are susceptible to liquefaction. This paper introduces an assessment of liquefaction resistance and post-liquefaction deformation properties using sample data acquired from a hydraulic fill site. Torsional shear test apparatus is employed to determine the values of undrained shear properties of the tested samples. The objective of this study is to evaluate the degree of variability of these properties in different samples at different depths, when these samples are tested with their original structure and then after their reconstitution. Obtaining this data allows evaluating the actual homogeneity of a specific part of the reclaimed site. The undrained shear parameters demonstrate higher variability in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction, even after removing the trend.
