The collision induced effects in the coadsorbed system of the CO/H/Ni(100) surface were studied using Xe atoms energy-controlled by the supersonic molecular beams. Xe collision removed weakly bound CO which resulted in the formation of tightly bound CO. The intensity of the CO decreased with increasing Xe irradiation at stretching mode at 2100 cm-1 and increased at 1950 cm-1. The results showed that the local arrangement or local coverage of CO substantially effect the binding energy of CO for the CO/H/Ni(100) surface.
