N2 - The structural properties were investigated for a two-dimensional cobalt octacyanotungsten, which shows temperature- and photoinduced charge-transfer (CT) transitions, by means of the synchrotron-radiation x-ray powder diffraction. We have found that the Co-W sheet nearly keeps the shape, but enlarges in size, at the CT transition from the Co3+ - W4+ configuration to the Co2+ - W5+ configuration. Based on the systematic investigation of the thermal treatment and photoirradiation effects on the structural properties, we will discuss the mechanism for the photoinduced CT transition.
