For semiconductor devices, the microcavity effects is studied using the method of continuously tuning the emission wavelength of excitons in semiconductor quantum wells by the quantum confined Stark effect. The results from this method is presented along with the highspeed switching capability of the emission intensity and radiation pattern for pulsed changes in applied electric fields in QWS.
