Broadband light generation by femtosecond pulse amplification with stimulated Raman scattering in a high-power erbium-doped fiber amplifier

抄録

Nonlinear amplification of femtosecond pulses in a high power erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is examined. It is shown that a smooth broadband continuum can be generated through stimulated Raman scattering (SRS). The output of the amplifier is in the form of noise bursts with a coherence length of 25 μm at average powers as high as 270 mW. The experimental system was all fiber and diode pumped and may be useful for coherence-domain measurement systems and sensors that require high powers.
