N2 - Inclination of recorded magnetization in an obliquely metal-evaporated (ME) tape is estimated by the Bitter pattern technique. Although the contrast of the Bitter pattern evolved in a magnetic field of various directions to the film plane is generally asymmetric with respect to recording transitions, it becomes symmetric only when that magnetic field is applied in a direction determined by the recorded magnetization. For the Co-Ni-O film recorded at 1.5 kFCI, the inclination of magnetization is estimated to be about 40°. It is also shown that this value of the inclination agrees well with the theory.
