Acoustic impedance evaluation of thermally denatured and non-denatured biological tissues

抄録

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a method to treat non-superficial tumors by inducing high temperature to coagulate them. In this study, we measured the acoustic impedance distribution and sound speed of thermally-denatured and nondenatured chicken breast muscles. The thermally-denatured specimen was obtained by exposure to HIFU at about 800 W/cm2 for 60 s. The condition was so chosen that cavitations would not occur.
