The immobilization of oriented nanocrystals of trans-4-[4-(dimethylamino)]-stilbazolium p-toluenesulfonate (DAST) in a dispersion system that was oriented anisotropically in a magnetic field was analyzed. The immobilization was performed using a ultraviolet (UV)-cured resin. The orientation of the nanocrystals was retained without relaxing for a long time at room temperature. It was shown that the optical anisotropy of the absorption and refractive index of the photocured materials can be controlled merely by adjusting the magnetic field.
