The phenomenon of field emission from a superconductor is studied. The total-energy distribution of the emitted electrons and that associated with the velocity component normal to the emitting surface are calculated. Both these distribution functions differ essentially from those for the normal state near the Fermi level. A spectroscopic method permitting the measurement of the plateau in the energy distribution of the field-emitted electrons is proposed. The size of this plateau gives directly the value of the energy gap.
