A flux difference multidimensional splitting scheme

A complete decomposition of an arbitrary flux difference by a set of oblique planar waves without any gradient information is presented for constructing a new flux difference multidimensional splitting upwind finite volume scheme. A variety of schemes can be devised by applying the existing oblique planar wave models in the flux difference. decomposition. Calculated results for typical test problems indicate that the present schemes are stable from subsonic to hypersonic flow range involving strong shock waves. Reasonably accurate solutions are also obtained for various viscous flow problems. It is found that the first order accurate numerical solutions are slightly more dissipative than that of the original Roe scheme.
