A 45-year-old man was pointed out abnormality of the liver morphology by ultrasonography at a medical checkup. Imaging studies by both ultrasonography and CT raised the suspicion of the presence of liver cirrhosis, although the laboratory data was not indicating the presence of liver diseases. We performed diagnostic laparoscopy and found the liver divided into more than eight lobes, although nodular formation was absent on the liver surface. Laparoscopy was a useful examination to differentiate between liver cirrhosis and hepatic anomalous lobation with multiple lobes, which was difficult to distinguish by usual imaging techniques.
