Background: We report a case of bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic proliferation (BDUMP) that responded to corticosteroid treatment. Case Report: A 46-year-old female noticed vision changes in both eyes after surgery for cholangiocarcinoma. At the initial ophthalmologic examination, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 1.2 in the right eye and 2.0 in the left. Findings on anterior and posterior segment examinations were unremarkable. About 9 weeks later, BCVA deteriorated to 0.4 in the right eye and 0.2 in the left. Funduscopy revealed bilateral exudative retinal detachment and bilateral multiple, round or oval, subtle, yellowish white patches at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium. On fluorescein angiography there was early hyperfluorescence in areas corresponding to the patches. We diagnosed BDUMP and prescribed a course of corticosteroid treatment. After the treatment, exudative retinal detachment resolved in both eyes and BCVA improved to 1.2 in the right eye and 1.5 in the left. Conclusions: Some cases of BDUMP respond to corticosteroid treatment.
