X-ray diffraction study in high magnetic fields of magnetovolume effect in itinerant-electron metamagnetic La(Fe0.88Si0.12) 13 compound

Abstract

The isotropic magnetovolume effect related to the itinerant-electron metamagnetic (IEM) transition in La(Fe0.88Si0.12) 13 compound was studied. The x-ray diffraction analysis in high magnetic fields was used for the study. No change in crystal structure followed by IEM transition was confirmed in the compound. It was observed that there was a significant increase in the lattice constant of about 0.4% due to the IEM transition.
