Worst Imperfection (I)

The critical load of a system undergoing bifurcation is highly sensitive to imperfections, as Chapter 3 has described. Such is particularly the case for domes and shells. In their design, it is preferable to consider the “worst imperfection” that reduces the critical load most rapidly.
