Wave-packet analysis of multichannel resonances in positron scattering by a helium ion

Abstract

Two S-wave resonances in positron scattering by a helium ion were analyzed using wave packet analysis. The position and width for both the resonance states were determined through the resulting time delays. It was observed that a hump is temporarily formed in the closed channel retaining the shape as appeared , grown, decayed and disappeared with time. It was found that the lower resonance dominantly formed and decayed into the n=2 states of the helium ion, while the higher resonance formed into the n=3 states.
