Water quality assessment of willow slough watershed by watershed environmental hydrology model coupled with hydro-climate model (WEHY-HCM)

    Abstract

    In this study, the watershed environmental hydrology model, coupled with a hydro-climate model (WEHY-HCM), was set up over an agricultural watershed (Willow Slough watershed) in order to assess and manage the nonpoint sources from an agricultural watershed properly. Several component layers were organized and implemented in the model: a regional hydro-climate model, a watershed environmental hydrology model, an agricultural water balance model, a river channel routing model, a terrestrial process model, and an aquatic process model. Finally, the model simulation results were calibrated and validated by the field-monitored data at every modeling step. The results of this study indicated that the developed model can be a useful for a comprehensive assessment of an agricultural watershed.
