Abstract

Linear thermal expansion, specific heat, and Mössbauer effect measurements were performed for a La(Fe0.862Al0.138)13 compound. This compound exhibits a temperature-induced first-order transition from the ferromagnetic to the antiferromagnetic. The temperature dependence of the spontaneous magnetostriction was also compared with that of the average hyperfine field.
