We construct examples of very ample lattice polytopes of dimension n ≥ 3 such that their (n-2)-folds are not normal. We also obtain criteria of normality and non-normality for 3-dimensional lattice polytopes with width one which are the Minkowski sums of lattice 3-simplices and line segments.
