The roundoff noise and scaling in 2-D state-space digital filters are analyzed, and the noise matrix and the covariance matrix are derived. They are expressed in terms of an infinite sum or double integral. A formulation is given for synthesizing minimum-roundoff-noise 2-D state-space digital filters. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the analysis and synthesis methods.
