Ultrasonic attenuation of the valence fluctuation compound SmB6

Abstract

We report the temperature dependences of the elastic constant and ultrasonic attenuation of the longitudinal C11 mode in the valence fluctuation compound SmB6. The anomalies of the C11 mode are explained by the interaction between the elastic strain and the narrow 4f-bands.
