Abstract

Ultrabroad band white light was generated from a multimode photonic bandgap fiber (PBF) with an air core. The optical pumping source for white light generation was a femtosecond mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser operating at 810 nm. The far field pattern of the PBF output in the visible spectral region and the emission center wavelength changed when the point of excitation was detuned from the air core center.
