Ultra-precision arc truing and dressing of diamond wheels for aspheric mirror grinding

Abstract

The accuracy of the workpiece profile in the mirror grinding of brittle materials depends directly on the accuracy of the grinding wheel profile. In order to improve the accuracy of the grinding wheel, this paper presents a new method denoted continuous mode truing for the arc truing and dressing of diamond grinding wheels. An appropriate algorithm for simulation of the wheel profile which is generated after the truing process is introduced. Based on the same algorithm, a truing condition optimization method is also explained. Finally, experimental analysis is used to confirm the accuracy of the simulation method.
