Two-particle kinetic equation and simulations using quasiparticle pairs and velocity moments

Abstract

We present an explicit expression for the angular velocity of rotation of pairs of quasi-particles through the first few velocity moments of the distribution function. The expression is suitable for describing collisions of molecules near equilibrium. We also present the results of a test numerical simulation based on this approximation for the relaxation of the distribution functions to equilibrium and give a comparison with the existing exact results..
