Transport properties of Au/Fe monatomic multilayers with L10 ordered structure

Abstract

We have investigated the magnetic characteristics of monatomic scale epitaxial multilayers Fex/Au2-x utilizing the electrical and Hall resistivity measurements. The results indicate the existence of two distinct conduction electron scattering centers, one with ferromagnetic perpendicular anisotropy and the other with paramagnetic (or superparamagnetic) character. For x = 0.5, the anomalous Hall contribution associated with the former is found to show a temperature-driven sign change at low temperatures. Possible two-dimensional Fe cluster formation is discussed in relation with the two scattering centers.
