Transition of drift wave instability driven by parallel flow velocity shears in hybrid ion plasmas

Abstract

A transition of the drift wave instability driven by the parallel ion flow velocity shears is observed by controlling the ion density ratio in hybrid ion plasmas. Furthermore, an anomalous decrease in the fluctuation an amplitude is observed in the transition process, which is considered to be caused by enhancement of an ion Landau damping effect due to mixing of two unequalmass ion species.
