The crystal structure of the title compound, trans-bis-(methylamine-N)bis(4-amino-1-methyl-2(1H)-pyrimidinone-N 3)platinum(II) bis[tetrachlorothallate(III)], [Pt-(CH5N)2(C5H7N3O) 2][TlCl4]2, consists of square-planar PtII cations arranged on a crystallographic inversion center and distorted tetrahedral TlCl4- anions. The compound is very similar to known cytosine complexes of the trans-[(NH3)2Pt(1-methylcytosine)2]X 2 type. The distortion in TlCl4- and in other anion-containing compounds is discussed.
