Abstract
In order to develop polymer additives which increase the traction coefficient of its blended oils, many kinds of homopolymers and copolymers were synthesized. The traction coefficient of polymer-blended oils was measured with a two-disk machine. The relation between traction coefficient of the blended oils and molecular structure of the polymer additives was investigated. It was found that the polymers having a cyclohexyl ring in the side chain have the tendency to increase the traction coefficient.
