Towards direct synthesis of fct-FePt nanoparticles by chemical route

Abstract

The possibility for direct synthesis of fct-FePt particles by controlling the reaction kinetics of the chemical process was discussed. The synthesis of fcc-FePt nanoparticles of the order of 3-4 nm in diameter using the polyol process was reported. It was found that Pt ion concentration in the polyol was one of the parameters that retards the reaction kinetics of the reduction process effectively.
