Abstract
The torsional impact response of a flat annular or circumferential edge crack in an infinite elastic medium with a cylindrical cavity is investigated. Laplace and Hankel transforms are used to reduce the problem to a set of integral equations. These equations are solved numerically and the singular stress field near the crack tip is determined. The influence of geometry and inertia upon the stress intensity factor is shown graphically in detail.
