Topological phase transition in solidification of confined liquids

We found a string-like object evolving in roll and entangled patterns in liquid hydrogen, argon, nitrogen and neon on cooling in the confined geometry. The propagating front was of vapor phase and followed by a solid tubule. The void space produced by the structure corresponds to shrinkage in solidification.
