Time-resolved PSP imaging of unsteady shock-wave phenomena using a high-speed camera

Abstract

In this study, we conducted time-resolved PSP imaging of unsteady shock-wave phenomena using a high-speed video camera. For this purpose, we visualized moving shockwave passing through a sample plate and obstacles mounted on the side wall of the shock tube and analyzed time-resolved images. In addition, we developed a new calibration method based on cross-correlation method (CCM) to calibrate spatial-and temporal-random ununiformity in luminescent intensity of excitation light source. Shimadzu high-speed camera (HPV-1) was used for this purpose and the frame rate of imaging is 500,000 frames/s in this study. As a result of experiments, the moving shock-wave passing through a sample plate and triangular obstacle was successfully visualized by using high-speed video camera. In addition, by using new calibration method based on CCM, unsteady pressure field caused by unsteady shock-wave was able to be visualized.
