Time evolution of stage transformation in GICs

Abstract

A stochastic model is presented for intercalation processes and stage transformation is graphite intercalation compounds. By simulating the non-linear Langevin equation it is demonstrated that two distinct stages with well-ordered structures can coexists during stage transformation if the growth processes dominates over the diffusion process. The kinetics of stage transformation and the possible appearance of fractional stages are discussed.
