Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) structure of rubber containing two kinds of nano-filler, i.e., carbon black (CB) and silica (Si) particles, has been studied by transmission electron microtomography (TEMT) together with electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Some structural parameters, e.g. particle size and their distributions, were evaluated independently for the CB and Si particles from the 3D reconstruction of the TEMT. In addition, spherical particles were packed into the region of aggregates of the TEMT image using Monte Carlo type simulation. Details of 3D quantitative image analysis as well as the experimental technique will be discussed at the conference time.
