Thermal diffusivity of boron-carbon-titanium compounds as plasma facing materials

Abstract

Carbon-boron-titanium compounds were synthesized by hot press and subsequent HIP (high temperature isostatic press) treatment for application as plasma facing material. The thermal diffusivity of the compounds was measured by conventional and advanced laser-flash techniques in the temperature range of 300-1800 K. The thermal diffusivity was examined as a function of the chemical composition of the compounds. Effect of HIP treatment on the thermal diffusivity was also studied.
