Abstract

Dilution effects in the long-range ordered state of the eg orbital are investigated. Impurities without the orbital degree of freedom are introduced in the orbital pseudo-spin model which is derived by a superexchange-type interaction and a cooperative Jahn-Teller type one. We show by a Monte-Carlo simulation and a cluster expansion method that a decreasing of the orbital-ordering temperature with increasing impurity concentration is dramatic in comparison with that in the conventional spin model. We discuss the implications of the present results to recent experiments in KCu 1-xZnxF3.
