The study of non-shield head for perpendicular recording

Abstract

Non-shield head for perpendicular recording was studied. The gap length in the higher areal densities was investigated. Results showed that yoke type heads can apply only to tens of gigabytes of areal density and 'dual stripe GMR' may be applied to high areal density without shield.
