N2 - Weight loss and changes in the crystalline phase, microstructure and fracture strength for MgO, MgAl2O4, Al2O3, MgO-doped partially stabilized zirconia (Mg-SZ), Y2O3-doped tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y-TZP), CeO2-doped tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Ce-TZP), Si3N4 and SiC ceramics were investigated in 5-25 mol kg-1 H2O NaOH solutions at 150-300°C. SiC and Ce-TZP exhibited excellent resistance to the corrosion in NaOH solutions. The relative corrosion resistances of those ceramic materials in NaOH solutions are SiC > Ce-TZP > Y-TZP sintered at low temperature > Mg-PSZ > Si3N4 > Al2O3 > MgAl2O4 > MgO.
