Abstract

In this paper the fracture strain, stress-strain relation, compliance and the structural change of the outerwall of aorta are experimentally studied under these pressure conditions. The objective of the study is to elucidate the deterioration of artery blood vessel with time under pulsatile pressure. It was found that fracture strain of aorta is nearly constant, independent of the pulsatile pressure wave pattern. The change of aorta compliance corresponds well with the change of the strength. Therefore, the deterioration of the aorta will be more conveniently predicted by measuring the change of the aorta compliance.
