Temperature dependence of the volume-plasmon energy in aluminum

    Abstract

    The volume-plasmon energy in aluminum was measured over a wide temperature range between -175 and 500°C with high energy-resolutions of 0.10-0.27 eV by applying a newly developed high-resolution energy-loss spectroscopy microscope. The temperature dependence of the volume-plasmon energy was well explained by the thermal expansion of aluminum.
