This paper describes the design and performance of a TDMA (time division multiple access) system for Satellite Digital Communication Service (SDCS). To reduce cost and hardware size of TDMA equipment, six kinds of general purpose TDMA LSIs have been newly developed. These LSIs can be applied to various TDMA equipment with different TDMA frame formats and clock rates of up to 100 MHz by software parameter setting. Cost and hardware size of the LSI implemented TDMA equipment have been reduced to about one-fourth of a conventional one.
