Abstract

A study was conducted on the method for designing a perfect antireflection coating (ARC) for a semi-infinite one-dimensional photonic crystal (PC). Bloch wave expansion and time reversal symmetry were applied to get the analytic formulas of structural parameters for the ARC. An important role was played by the surface immittance of the PCs in designing the ARCs.
