Abstract
LiMn 2O 4 samples were synthesized using solvent evaporation method from various precursor solutions with cationic surfactant, and their particles properties and electrochemical properties were studied. The as-prepared samples exhibited a monophobic cubic spinel structure without any impurities in the XRD patterns, and the chemical composition of the as-prepared powders showed good agreement with the precursor solution. The as-prepared sample was used as cathode active materials for lithium secondary battery and their charge/discharge properties examined. Test experiments in the electro chemical cell Li|1M LiPF 6 in EC with DEC|LiMn 2O 4 demonstrated that the sample, prepared by the solvent evaporation method, is a promising cathode material for 4 v lithium secondary batteries. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 18th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering (Prague, Czech Republic 8/24-28/2008).
