N2 - Functional nanocrystals have received considerable attention because of their various applications. Although glass-ceramic (GC) processing is recognized as promising for preparation of nanostructured material, it is difficult to use the materials as nanocrystals as in. This study provides a possible way to obtain nanocrystals by irradiation of fundamental wave of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser to nanocrystallized GCs in liquid. In this study, we employed Mn4+:Li2Ge4O9 nanocrystallized GCs as the target, and succeeded in fabricating deep-red emissive nanocrystals with a size of ∼100 nm.
