Synthesis of Fe-based nanocrystalline soft magnets with high saturation magnetization

Abstract

Fe-metalloid-based nanocrystalline soft magnets are known to be excellent soft magnetic materials. In this work, we have synthesized (Fe,Co) 87(P7-xC1Bx)13 alloys with a high saturation magnetization (Bs) and investigated their magnetic properties and microstructures. As a result, we have successfully obtained a high saturation magnetization of Bs∼1.85T at the compositions of (Fe,Co)87(P1C1B6)13 and (Fe,Co)87(C1B7)13. The B addition is found to increase the saturation magnetization through increasing the volume fraction of nanocrystalline α-Fe whereas simultaneous additions of B and P are found to be effective in the grain refinement, resulting in low coercivity.
