Abstract
Carbon hollow spheres with an average size of about 250 nm in diameter were successfully synthesized by a reaction of hexachlorobutadiene (C 4Cl6) with NaN3 at 400°C. The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Raman results reveal the graphite structure of the as-prepared sample. The thermal stability of the as-prepared sample was also investigated. The possible mechanism has been proposed.
