Abstract

The authors present the variance of roundoff noise in 2-D separable denominator digital filters represented by K. P. Roessor's (1975) local state-space model. A synthesis method for 2-D separable denominator digital filters with minimum roundoff noise is proposed under an l//2 norm dynamic range constraint. Overflow oscillations under zero input conditions can be eliminated in the minimum-noise realizations.
