Synthesis and properties of trimethylenedithio-bridged tetrathiafulvalenophanes

Abstract

Three isomeric tetrathiafulvalenophanes possessing two trimethylenedithio spacers have been synthesized and characterized by use of 1H NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and an X-ray structural analysis. Electrocrystallization of three isomers gave the same radical cation salt of trans-trans isomer with PF6 anion, which showed a moderate conductivity with semiconductive temperature dependence. The molecular and crystal structure of the neutral and radical cationic trans-trans isomer were characterized by an X-ray analysis.
